Electric Vehicles Pilot Program for Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago. The Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) and over 30 energy and infrastructure business leaders, government officials, financiers, policy advisors and academics in Trinidad and Tobago are developing an Electric Vehicles (EVs) pilot project for the country as part of the Private Investment Mobilization (PIM) training program conducted by CCS. The EVs pilot will be designed to result in an actionable and financeable Low Carbon Development (LCD) program in Trinidad and Tobago. Program design and implementation mechanisms will include revenue generating mechanisms and blended finance structures to attract public and private sector investments at scale. 
The EVs pilot was selected during one of the module-based training sessions that will be conducted by CCS through April, 2021 to help participants approach low carbon development through the lenses of the policymaker, developer, consumer, business, and investment community. The PIM Program in Trinidad and Tobago provides certificate-based instruction, Learning by Doing activities, and tool development through a curriculum that is hosted by the University of West Indies (UWI) – Open Campus, who serves as the incubator for the program and in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) NDC Support Programme.
